Welcoming Refugees: A Conversation about Refugees in Ithaca and Beyond
Hosted by Cornell Welcomes Refugees and the Advocacy Project, October 2023
In her contributions to the panel, Saida Hodžić discusses the importance of shifting the narrative about welcoming refugees. Refugee welcome too often means assimilation and incorporation into poverty and structures of whiteness; instead it needs to focus on decriminalization, permanent legality, culturally meaningful support, mutual aid, and refugee-led advocacy.
